This is a definite must do in Cedar Key. The 90 minute guided tour told so much about the island’s history, homes in the area, and the storms that have changed the island – Amanda
Living Cedar Key started as a personal blog—a place where we (Ryan and Janeth) could share the quiet charm, local beauty, and stories we discovered during our frequent visits to Cedar Key. Since 2015, we’ve explored nearly every corner of this island, falling more in love with it each time. What began as a few photos and reflections on Facebook grew into a community of over 10,000 people who share our appreciation for this special place.
Now, we’ve turned that love into something more: guided golf cart tours designed to help visitors experience Cedar Key the way we have—through its history, wildlife, nature, and local folklore. Whether it’s your first time here or your fiftieth, we want to give you a deeper connection to the island we’ve come to call home.
We’re still Living Cedar Key—just with a few more wheels and a whole lot more stories to share.
We want your day in Cedar Key to be stress-free. Here is everything you need to know about the weather, the ride, and where to meet us.
You’ll explore Cedar Key’s most important historic landmarks, neighborhoods, and waterfront views while hearing the stories that shaped the island. The tour highlights Cedar Key’s fishing heritage, old Florida charm, and lesser-known local history — all from the comfort of a guided golf cart.
Yes! Our History Tour is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Children are welcome as long as they can safely sit on a golf cart for the duration of the tour.
Your safety comes first. Light rain typically won’t cancel the tour, but severe weather may require rescheduling. If that happens, we’ll contact you in advance with options.
Bring only what you’d carry for a relaxed island day:
Phone or camera
Small bag or backpack
Any personal medications
A reusable water bottle if you’d like
No need to bring cash unless you want to shop locally or tip.
The History Tour begins and ends in central Cedar Key. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the exact meeting location, parking information, and arrival time.
Your ticket includes a guided golf cart history tour led by a local guide, covering Cedar Key’s historic sites, stories, and viewpoints. There are no food stops or boat rides included, making this a shorter, relaxed experience focused entirely on history.
